Custom artwork on commission
A timeless piece that reflects the bond between you and your equine companion.
Your horse means the world to you
Your friends don't understand why you can't go away for the weekend, because you can't be away from the horses for too long. Your family thinks you're crazy after a few close calls. Someone has even suggested selling the horse for financial reasons.
But even after an accident, the first thing you ask is, "Is the horse okay?" — despite being unable to move. And even in a cast with a broken ankle, you count down the days until you can ride again.
That is called passion.
Your personal story immortalised
You'd do anything to make your horse happy and give them the best life — but something feels missing. When you come home from the stables, you feel tired and unsure. You long for that spark to reignite your inspiration.
Perhaps you've had to let him go, and you miss your companion terribly. You're looking for a way to bring your horses closer to home — to create a cozy place where you both belong. You're on a journey of remembering, finding peace in keeping the memory of your best friend alive.
Whether you've had to say farewell to a special one, or whether he is still by your side, you want to create something meaningful and enduring — honouring the one you love.
The spirit of your companion on canvas
Imagine an artwork that captures the expression of your horse perfectly, as he looks right into your eyes. Imagine the freedom of choosing the style you prefer and the colours of your interior, matching his coat and his personality.
Think about adding something personal — the ashes of your late horse, his hair, grass from his pasture, a piece of fabric from his blanket. Imagine how it could lift your home with energy.
This way your artwork becomes a personal story of the bond between you and your horse. You get connected by a unique piece of art with immeasurable emotional value.
In the spirit of "nothing is ever lost", they live on in the most unique way.
The process
Send me a professional photo, several homemade snapshots, or even just an idea. I mainly paint horses, but also other animals, people, weddings, holidays and pregnancies — every beautiful moment deserves to be immortalised.
I often create a digital design in advance, based on your photos, so you get a glimpse of how your painting will look with your chosen image(s), size and proportions. Together we determine the ideal composition.
I can also visit you to brainstorm. I bring paintings of different sizes and colours so you can see how they fit your space, measure the wall together, and even make reference photos of your horse.
How long does it take?
Once I receive your deposit, you're placed on the waiting list — currently around six months before I can begin your project. It's essential to have enough time and space: an idea needs to evolve, and every commissioned artwork deserves my full attention to become a unique piece.
A few examples
Every commission is unique in size, style and colour — here are a few finished works hanging where they belong.
Pricelist
The price for a piece from my hand depends on your preferences. The size of the artwork and the number of figures on the canvas play the biggest role. Complexity, composition, design and whether a background is included also matter — as do chosen media such as gold leaf, framing, and personal additions like ashes. Naturally, I also consider your budget and the space you have at home.
A personalised custom artwork starts from €750.
All sizes — including round canvases — are possible, so measure your wall to see what fits best. I always request a 50% deposit, with the remaining half paid before shipping, or on the day of delivery or pick-up. All prices are exclusive of shipping and delivery. A payment plan can be arranged, and gift cards can be collected toward your favourite artwork.
You'll closely follow the process
Throughout the painting process I'll regularly reach out with photo updates, so you can closely follow the progress. You're welcome to make suggestions or express preferences for adjustments along the way, so I can tailor the painting to your wishes.
This ensures you have a clear picture of the final result. My aim is 100% customer satisfaction.
Marjo used to be Parino's vet and dentist, so she truly knew him. I sent her his ashes and dried grass from his pasture to incorporate into the paint.”

HE IS HERE!!!!!! 😍😭🙏🏼 Parino is home 💕🏡
These photos seriously don't do justice to what this piece looks like in real life 💔 I'm 120% sure that even the best photographer in the world wouldn't be able to capture the impact of this artwork properly. The depth, the shifts in color, the soul hidden in this canvas, you can only truly see it with your own eyes.
Two years ago, I asked Marjo if she could paint Parino, shortly after he passed away. Marjo paints in a way I've honestly never seen before.
Marjo used to be Parino's vet and dentist, so she truly knew him. I sent her his ashes and dried grass from his pasture to incorporate into the paint. In the time between then and now, we've both changed and grown so much. This artwork doesn't just hold a piece of my horse, it also holds a piece of my life and a piece of Marjo's story.
That, combined with the fact that this horse, even on canvas, looks straight into your soul, makes it an indescribably beautiful and complex piece.
This piece is getting a prominent spot in our home, so I can look at it every single day.
“Marjo, thank you 💜”
"You captured the soul of the animal perfectly — it's amazing! You made a magnificent painting of a beautiful mare and foal in warm colours. The gold leaf details make it extra special; from another angle you see different things. I'd really recommend you to anyone who wants to upgrade their home with beautiful art."
Passion for horses & art
A space that feels good doesn't happen by chance —
it happens by design.
As an artist with a background as an equine veterinarian, I help nature and horse lovers connect more deeply with their horses through art that resonates. I specialise in expressing the freedom and instinct of horses, and create timeless pieces that reflect the bond between you and your horse.
Putting my veterinary career on hold, I'm now a full-time artist on a mission to help horse and owner in a different way. I'm very curious to hear your ideas and preferences, so feel free to send me your wishes and photos. I look forward to working with you.

Yes. The process starts from your photos or your idea. But Marjo doesn't simply copy a photo — she paints what she feels when she hears your horse's story. You then receive a digital preview before painting begins, and a studio visit is part of the process.
There are three stages: (1) you share your photos or idea, (2) Marjo creates a digital preview, and (3) a studio visit. Throughout the painting, you receive regular photo updates and can suggest adjustments, so there are no unexpected surprises and the result matches your wishes.
A 50% deposit is required to confirm your commission and place you on the waiting list. The remaining 50% is paid before shipping, or on the day of delivery or pick-up. A payment plan can be arranged, and gift cards can be collected toward your artwork.
Yes. Marjo is based in Antwerp, Belgium, and ships worldwide — her work hangs in private collections in Dubai, the United States and Australia. Shipping and delivery are charged separately from the artwork price.
Each piece is an original watercolour painted on linen canvas, using the same brushes Marjo inherited from her grandfather, a watercolour artist. Every commission is one of a kind.
